Robert P. Bonacci, M.D.
Colorado
Montrose
Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Bonacci attended the Lawrenceville School. After earning his BA from Kenyon College, he attended Emory’s Physician Assistant Program followed by medical school at Morehouse School of Medicine. He completed Family Medicine residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and was chief resident during his final year. He and his wife, Kerrie, interviewed in Montrose after residency but ultimately decided to begin their careers at Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Bonacci served as a Family Medicine consultant for the past 21 years at Mayo Clinic, and led the Family Medicine Residency from 2010 to 2019 through a major overhaul of the training program. Over the last three years, Dr. Bonacci has led the rebuilding of the Mayo Clinic primary care practices in Albert Lea and Austin. Throughout his career, he has had an eye for innovation, continuous improvement, and new models of care.
He believes in treating the root cause of disease when possible – this includes how we eat, move, sleep, manage stress, and maintain connectedness.
He and Kerrie look forward to becoming active members of the Montrose community and exploring the vast outdoor opportunities that exist year-round – no more winter hibernation! Ellen, their daughter, will be heading off to college this summer.
